Through the Eyes of a Child

I wonder what is going through his active little mind when he looks like this.  All the world is still a wonder. Trees, birds, dogs...fascinating, all of them.  Often I tell myself I should try to remember to look at the world through the eyes of a child. Seldom I do.  How jaded we become as adults. How wary, weary, and burdened.  What a refreshing change of pace it is when we can get down on our knees, next to our child, and look at an object in unison.  What a wonder when we can rediscover that object and marvel at how it brings light to the face of someone we love so much.  In a moment such as this, all else fades away.  As it should.  Too quickly, this child of mine will grow.  Unfairly,  time, like a thief, will steal away the innocent way he views the world.  That same world will make him wary, weary and burdened.  Until he, like I have, gets down on his knees, and looks at the world anew, through the eyes of a child he loves.

That was beautiful. I also think that is exactly who Jesus told us we were to becme like little children when we became Christians. Children have not been jaded by life and time and can still see the beauty in the everyday things we now see as mundane and not so extraordinary.

What a beautiful picture. What you wrote is so true and so bittersweet. We encourage them to grow and learn, but that beautiful, innocent sense of wonder is definitely lost in the process.

That was beautiful!! Sometimes I think its really children that have life figured out and we forget how to do it right as we grow older.

Thats so true! I always wonder what my little man is staring at when he does that. Its like the littlest things to us - are so fascinating to him! Its great to have a child - cause they remind you of many things...mostly how to stop and really smell the roses right?

How true! We often don't slow don't to really enjoy the small things. As I watch my daughter grow, I remember my own childhood and sometimes long to be that innocent again!

He looks so intrigued by whatever it is he sees. I just love that. It is a bit hard to see your children grow and know that they soon will be in a place where we are as adults. How nice it would be to be a kid again. Since that is impossible, I think I'll just sit next to my little girl at the window and pretend. Thank you for sharing and reminding us where we all came from.

Beautiful post! I just love the pictures of my kids looking out the window! I made sure to take a picture of each of them at 13 months looking out the same window!

Its so true. I have been thinking about this very thing all week being in Disney World (the Animal Kingdom is a park at Disney World its not really a zoo but does have some animals, it is all jungly animal themed and there are birds that roam all over the park, there are rides too, and shows and a parade just like the other parks) The only way to really enjoy Disney to its fullest is to look at it as a child would. :D

Tanks for stopping by! No, laugh away... It's not funny, but then again it so is.

Bad news is they can't fix them for 2 weeks. Since they not his baby teeth, they have to wait for them to heal some & get stronger, before they repair them.

As for your little one, I wish we all still looked at the world like that. Great photo.

Blessings,
Shannon

Beautiful picture! And what a beautiful post. I love the way kids view things. They find the magic in the smallest things. And having children reminds us to do the same thing.
