Wiping the Slate Clean...and Ask Andy (my hubby) Anything!!!

For starters, I just want to say that I am not planning to do anymore giveaways...at least not for a while, or forever.  I love that I am doing this one, but I think they are pushing me in a direction I am not really ready to follow.  I love blogging, sharing my ideas through this medium, and I love the interaction I often get as a result.  Like many (or I suspect there are many), I had secret hopes of earning money doing this thing.  Ugh...no more is that my desire.  I was beginning to feel like a slave to my blog, obsessed (in a not so good way) about how many people wanted to read what I have to say.  Really, who cares?!  Isn't it nuts when you think about it?  Don't misunderstand...I do like people to read, but my first priority when writing a post should be whatever it is that inspired me to write...not "what will people think if I say this, or do that?"

When I started blogging, it was just so much fun.  I was excited to post, and I enjoyed what I wrote.  Once I started being more concerned with the numbers of it all, some of that (okay a lot of that) pleasure went right out the window.  So, I'm busting the chains.  I'm letting go of my secret desire to be a millionaire blogger ;)  I'm gonna write about my kids, and show you pictures of the horrific fish cake I made Addyson...really, it's bad...and really I will share.  I'm going to post my recipes, because I love them, and if even one person tries one and likes it, then I have given something in some small way.  I am going to write selfish posts that no one really wants to read (except for my mom, and me in 40 years).

I wrote this post just a short time ago, and I think I missed the boat.  I meant everything I said in it, and I believe it all 100%, but somehow I still derailed myself. Oh well.  New start.

Not sure what compelled me to explain myself this way...maybe just my way of wiping the slate clean.  Allowing me to get back to what I really loved about blogging to begin with, and if people decide to join me along the way...well, then all the better!

In an effort to do something I think would be a ton of fun...I decided to open the floor to any and all questions.  BUT...the questions are for Andy (my husband).  You can ask him anything you want.  ANYTHING!  Now, I will say this, he does reserve the right to not answer should something be out of line.  But I have faith that nothing will be.  I also give him free reign to answer anything about me.  So, get your typing fingers ready, and ask away.  What, my friends, would you like to know?

I know what you mean about blogging being more of a chore when you care about numbers. That happened to me a little and I didn't like it.
If I think of a question I will come back and comment. I will look forward to reading the answers post. :)

Aw, I love your blog and I'll read every word you write and look at every picture! I think it's awesome that you're sticking to what you feel is true and right. It's not easy! I'd love to be a millionaire blogger... Hell, dude, I'd love to be a millionaire ANYTHING. But I'm sorta with you - to build that kind of following is exhausting and an overwhelming task. Regardless, though, I'll read your blog - ads, giveaways, whining, anything.

So, my question... hm... If your wife could have any profession BESIDES being a SAHM, what would you want it to be? And why? And do you read her blog? What do you think of it?

And finally, would you ever consider moving your family to where I live and buying the house next-door so we can all be IRL friends? Is that weird?

Girl that has definitely happened to me..Your blog rocks and I love it..so there!

Um..question for Andy..

Hmmmm..What made you fall in love with your wife?

How did you 2 meet?

Will you have more kids? :-)

What do all do for fun as a family?

What do you think your wife's best physical feature is?

What do you do for a living?

Okay..I think that's enough ??'s..

Happy Sunday lady!!

Even tho I'm a new follower, I'm glad to hear you're taking it back to blogging for the sake of loving blogging. I've gone back & forth about PR for my blog. Ultimately deciding if someone wants me to promote something I'm super excited about - I'm game. Other than that, I'm in it just for my love of it.

And I love that you're doing a Q&A post. I'm doing one at mine right now too!

So my question. Westpoint. Did you like it, was it worth it....I wanna know. LOL My little brother (so foolishly) opted to NOT go there when he could have. Not sure about the whole process of getting in & everything but he chose to be a Comms guy instead. Just curious about the 'what might have been'.

Glad you shared! Love reading whatever you post! :)

Question: Most favorite (material) gift you have ever given Arizona Mamma?

Julie said...

Yay!! I'm glad you're going to share more pictures!! Did I mention I love pictures. I want to see the fish cake! Bring it on!
I love it when people feel free to share whatever they feel like sharing that day!! Don't worry about it being "post worthy"!! Just post it, man! (or woman, in your case!) I'll definitely keep reading! I've gone back and read some of your old posts and loved them...not that I don't love your new ones too...but you know what I'm sayin'!

And a question for Andy...

What is the weirdest thing that your lovely wife has done since you've known her? :)

You could talk about lint and I would still come here to read what you have to say.

I HEART YOU!!!

I have often had to reset myself in terms of how I view my blog. I've even thought about removing that followers widget because sometimes I get too obsessed with who is following, who dropped me, etc. WHO CARES!?

I love, love, LOVE this idea to ask your husband anything. LOVE.IT. I wish I thought of it because if I steal it now it will look like I lack creativity. UGH.

DARN YOU!

Ok...my questions for Andy... oh yeah, I said questionS.

1) What does your wife do or say that just makes you melt?

2) What do you love the most about her?

3) Do you have a nickname for her?

4) Is there a limit to how many questions I can ask?

Dear Andy :)...Seeing how AZ Mamma and I are fellow Arizonans...just what is it that she likes to do around these parts?

And P.S....I think that's just what your blog should be...exactly what you want it to be and not someone else's expectations.

Okay...I don't have a question...but I do have a comment!!

Honestly, I think we all go through that! I started the same way..."gee, this is fun!"...then, readership started to grow, I wanted to make some cash...

Pressure built, it became not so fun...and then BAM! The epiphany! The, "I do this for ME...and dang, I'm soooo happy that people read what I write, but no more pressure!!"

I was right there beside you at one point, girl!

Way to go!

I honestly don't care about the numbers as far as blogging goes. It just makes me feel overwhelmed that the people who's following me, that in return, I follow them. As good as all the blogs are, I end up feeling bad that I can't visit all of them regularly. I do understand.

OH I hear you so loud and clear hun. but I decided a long time ago I was going to do it MY way and not everyone else's way. I am not into the PR and all that jazz, don't get me wrong it would be great to earn money from my obsession buttt alas I love where I am now..

Love your blog! Read it everyday! Question for Andy is...and you said it could be anything...and it didn't specify, so - Andy, if you were stranded on a island with one of your siblings, which one would you rather it be and why?

drea said...

I'm with you 100% in more ways than one. I will keep coming back for more, because I like what you have to share.

Question for your hubby....

honestly, what do you think of your wife blogging? do you think it has taken too much time from everyday things, or do you see it as a good outlet for her?

I like the kids questions already from Keely, so do ya?

that's all.

can't wait to see more of your fab photos.

Honestly, I greatly prefer blogs that are about real life rather than about giveaways and such. I did the Friday Follow thing for a couple of weeks and was surprised at how many people followed me but never left a comment or anything. Are they actually reading or are they just trying to make me feel good for having followers? What's the point of that?!? I am a new reader and I look forward to your posts and your family and can't wait to see the fish cake!

Bravo old girl! Well spoken..err, written.
I will follow you into the worst posts ever written (not that I think you are even capable of writing bad posts!) all because you are YOU!
I have done the FF and am amazed at all the giveaways out there. Where are all the blogs about people? Real life? Struggles? Laughs? They are becoming harder and harder to find! At least I know I can find it here!
Big hugs and noogies!

Question for the man of the house

Being a sports fan the best event I have ever been to was the Army-Navy game many years ago at the Meadowlands since you were part of that tradition, besides that what is the best sporting event you have ever attended?

Mama (Heidi) said...

I think it's so funny that I feel like I have post idea brewing in my head then bam-o someone else writes the words right out from under me. Not upset, just sayin'
Now I haven't done a giveaway or anything, but I think two friday follows is too many for me. I would rather have a small following of people that read and comment and like me for me. Well, I still might write my post....

Oh Andy!! I have some questions for you...

Do you love Seinfeld as much as AZ Mamma?
What is your favorite TV show?
What is your favortie thing to do in your free time?
Did you contribute to Addyson and Colton's name selection?
Az Mamma is quirky about the sheets, what is your quirk?
Do you leave the seat up?
What is your favorite room in your house?
Are you originally from AZ?
If not what brought you there? If you are from there is there any where else you would like to live?
Can the AZ Mamma come visit me?

K, I'll be back if I think of more.

Great post! I totally understand what you are saying! I have also thought about trying to earn money from my little blog, but then I realize I didn't start it for that reason! I just want to share my life with ya'll and meet some other awesome bloggers, like yourself!

The question I had for your hubby has already been asked.....where did you guys meet?

I think most, if not all, of us can relate to this. I love you all the more for this post. The thought of being a huge successful blog is exciting. It is exciting when new people follow you and when your community is a HOT community.

When I start focusing on the numbers, the same thing happens to me. My writing slips, my anxiety goes up, and I wonder why in the heck I am letting it get to me. In fact, I read your post out loud to my husband today because I could relate so much to it and I love that you were saying it on your blog.

I think true blog friends are like true friends. We are here through the good, the bad, and the ugly, and we love you just the same all the way through.
For the record, I have not noticed a slip in your writing or enjoyed any of your posts any less, but I know where you are coming from.

I think Melis has a good idea. Can I invite myself along and maybe the three of us could move next door to each other. How fun would that be?

Anyway, hang in there, relax, enjoy life, and know we are still here for you!

don't sell out and become the million dollar zona blogger!

When first started blogging I could not believe how many people actually make money off of it, I don't think it's a good idea. . . people start acting fake and untrue and misrepresent them self so I give it to you girlfriend write what you want!

PS.I didn't miss your comment with questions, I'll get to them. ;D

I've got a question for your hubby. If time and money weren't a factor, how would you spend the next year?
And, what's he think is the coolest thing about you?

Being true to who you are is what matters. I think being authentic is the key to being "successful" in blogging

I agree... our blogs our out outlets... thoughts, feelings, expressions on life and everything we're experiencing in it. I have only entered a give-away myself a handful of times because I don't want to become a Give Away advertiser. I am planning ONE give-away when I reach 100 followers but as a celebration of some great bloggy friends I've made. It is handmade things from me and not from review/giveaway/promotions. KUDOS to you for being real! And if I think of a question for hubby, I'll stop back by. :)

I've only been blogging for about 6 weeks or so and your blog was one of the first few that I visited. You have a GREAT blog, very inviting, and lots of great reads. I have just started checking my stat counter so many...too many times a day. It's a compulsion that is driving me crazy. Sounds like you feel really good with your new found slate. Congrats for that.
No question for your husband, looks like he has lots to answer.

Oh, I so agree with you! And, for the record, I love your posts where you are talking about yourself and your family and life. When I first started blogging I decided it was for me...no ads, no memes (though those can be fun)...just whatever I felt like posting. If I blogged just to get followers I would not be happy because I don't have that many followers! It has to be for me. : )

I just read Sonora's comment and I want to postulate this: What if we started a Blog Community? Like, no this wimpy "on the computer" crap like BlogFrog... I mean real, creepy, totally questionable Blog Friend colony. Communal kitchen, coffee flowing freely, kiddos playing in a courtyard...

Wow, I just went sailing past "weird stalker" into "total freakshow" so feel free to get that restraining order now.

But seriously. Think about it.

SO with ya! I wanted to make money blogging too...not so much! I have been totally obsessed with followers and comments. My husband thinks I am nuts! I so love your blog and I will read it all!!!

My husband really wants to get his own blog, but he has trouble figuring out how to turn on the computer and he can't type. lol. He's got an answer for everything.

So here goes:

Why do men start projects and then never totally complete them?
